He began reporting on his tests of bows in Archery World Magazine in 1974. He has authored over 250 published articles and papers dealing with the technical side of archery and bowhunting. He has been an active bowhunter for nearly 50 years and has served as a director of the Wisconsin Bowhunters Association for almost. He holds bachelors and masters degrees in mechanical engineering from the University of Wisconsin with a major in aeronautical engineering at the University of Detroit and a minor in business administration at Marquette University. In 2002 Norb Mullaney was elected to the national Archery Hall of Fame and the Hall of Honor of the World Bowhunters Chapter of the Safari Club International. Over the years he has tested over 8000 different bow and arrow combinations.
