Bow Hunting Equipment - Buying Vs Renting
Bow Hunting Gear - Trade vs Renting
Bow Hunting Gear - Trade vs Renting. ... For these reasons renting bow hunting gear is frequently a a great deal healthier superior for the beginner seeker. ...
But more than that, he is passionate about setting goals and achieving them. The best option is usually to rent equipment. Many new bow hunters make the mistake of buying ill-fitting equipment, or just don't stick with the sport after a few hunts. The best option for the new bow hunter is renting so he can try out both the equipment, and his new found sport.Renting equipment is the best option for the hunter because it allows him to get the experience he needs with a relatively low investment. Just because a hunter shows interest in a sport, doesn't mean it will become his new hobby for every spare weekend; there is much more to bow hunting than meets the eye. Bow hunting has long been considered a great challenge, which is why gun hunting has become much more popular over the years. It often takes years to master the shot that produces a clean kill every time. Bow hunting also requires the hunter to get much closer to his target, which is both an adrenaline rush, and a safety hazard. For the dedicated hunter, it is these challenges that keep him bow hunting through the years. Many Pro Archery shops have an expert on hand to assist you in all your hunting needs. These professionals are often trained to best assist their customer, you. The best time to visit the local archery store is at a time of the day that isn't busy, mid-afternoon on weekdays and early morning or late evening on weekends. For a new hunter, one on one attention is what he needs. There are many questions to be asked and a professional that is rushed with other customers will ultimately leave you feeling cheated. A new bow hunter needs time to feel different bows and insure he finds the right fit for his frame. The professional will be able to gauge the right pull weight for the individual hunter, and in this case, stiffer isn't always better. The wrong fit can cause a hunter to not use the bow, or mangle his shot. For these reasons renting bow hunting equipment is often a much better choice for the novice hunter. Most of what he knows about hunting whitetails over the past 37 years he's learned on his own. The equipment he shot a nice doe with earlier this fall was made by his own hands. The semi-retired Downs art teacher said he's always had a deep interest in history and Native Americans. An archeology class that included making native lodges, pottery, hide-tanning and making stone tools further piqued his interest. He started with the most basic hunting tool -- a bow. For years he bought every cheap recurve he can find, shot it, then decided what he liked and disliked about it. It wasn't long before he made bows worth taking afield. Along the way Stevens learned how to make his own bowstrings out of sinew and willow bark. Stevens was up to the task when last year the state passed regulations allowing the use of stone arrowheads. Knapping stone into tools or arrowheads has been a favorite hobby for many years. Past experience told him he can certainly knap a stone head sharp enough to do the job. It's my favorite and really sharp," Stevens said. Though he's made many bow strings with natural sinew or willow bark, the one on his bow was handmade from dacron. Waiting within a big homemade ground blind, his goal was to shoot one of several wild turkeys in the area. He cann't pass up a shot at a mature whitetail doe that passed about 10 yards away. His hand-knapped stone head shot through the top of the doe's heart. As it has many times, the hand-knapped knife made the skinning fast. The arrow was still intact but the arrowhead was missing from the end of the shaft. It was something that made that hunt real personal to me.
